Is Your Coconut Oil RAW? Coconut Oil Production Secrets:Organic coconut oil can be produced using a number of techniques, each one resulting in different grades. There are Wet-mill, Cold-press, Centrifuge and Expeller-press methods. If your coconut oil is not snowy-white with a delicious coconutty aroma, then try ours which is wet-milled using a cold-process. Regular cold-press methods don't always guarantee that heat isn't applied AFTER the pressing, for instance to quick-dry the oil. We believe that a no-heat-at-all method would be preferable to a heated oil, simply because heating is generally accepted to destroy certain nutrients. It takes longer to produce oil this way, but the results are worth it - you can see and taste the difference. We invite you to watch the video of this process below and when you open the lid of the jar, enjoy the mild aroma and taste of FRESH coconuts. You can eat this by spoon or on a cracker or blend in a smoothie, or you can cook with it knowing that it's the first heat it's ever seen. Best Before May 2011. Store at room temperature. Ingredient: 100% Raw Virgin Coconut Oil. Comment: Our Philippine suppliers, Cocovida, have become one of the first producers to show their whole process from tree to jar on video. The plantation is located in the pristine coastal environment of Eastern Samar, Philippines (click here for map). This happens to be the place where Mel Learmouth, the founder of Cocovida grew up. The coconut palms growing in abundance around this coastal area have never seen pesticides or artificial fertilizers. Coconuts are hand-picked at exactly the right time - precisely when they reach a peak level of lauric and other medium chain fatty acids. The coconut oil that arrives in your jar is fresh and raw from the first pressing. No heat is applied at any stage - it is not extracted with heat nor is it dried with heat. This cold-process method is called ANH 'Absolutely No Heat'. This is pure coconut oil at its most natural raw state. About the Producers: Cocovida are currently working with the CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency) as part of an Aid Project in Dolores and the surrounding areas. Their work and employment ethics go beyond fair-trade to 'Equi-trade' as the full product range (inc. soaps and body oils) are grown, produced, packaged and labelled in the country of origin, helping to create local employment and benefitting the local economy. The CEO of Cocovida, Mel Learmouth, is well respected in the coconut industry, being regularly invited to give speeches at the Philippine Coconut Authority. The largest coconut oil producing country in the world has not overlooked Cocovida, they've been awarded "Best Virgin Coconut Oil Manufacturer in the Philippines" in 2006 and "Most Outstanding Virgin Cococonut Oil Manufacturer" at the 2007 National Awards. ** FREE UK Delivery **
